Renovation and expansion on Prince-Arthur Street by FFM

Description

The Prince-Arthur Street project included both the renovation of an existing building and the construction of new buildings, with the aim of revitalizing this emblematic urban space.

The objective was to modernize the structures while preserving the unique character of the neighborhood, ensuring safety, accessibility, and improving connectivity between buildings.

To achieve this complex vision, Fer Forgé Montréal was called upon for its expertise in metal structures and accessibility solutions.

Client Goals

  • Improve the functionality and safety of existing and new buildings.
  • Ensure harmonious integration of structures into the existing urban fabric.
  • Create safe and accessible passages between buildings for residents and visitors.

Work carried out by Fer Forgé Montréal
Fer Forgé Montréal has provided innovative and tailor-made solutions to meet these challenges:

Installation of emergency stairs and walkways
For the new buildings as well as the renovated structure, emergency staircases and walkways were designed and installed. These structures not only guarantee the safety of occupants in the event of an emergency but also facilitate circulation between buildings, reinforcing the cohesion of the architectural ensemble.

Galvanized steel fire escape
An exterior galvanized steel fire escape was specifically designed to serve the two buildings. Galvanized steel was chosen for its durability and weather resistance, ensuring the longevity of the structure while requiring minimal maintenance. This installation not only provides an efficient escape route but also contributes to the modern industrial aesthetic of the project.
